Cacti, beautiful florals, and geometric designs, “AzureSkies” by Simple Simon Co. for Riley Blake Designs speaks to this girl’s adventure-loving heart! This fabric collection reminds of me desert sunsets after a long, fun day of exploring and can easily be used in modern, feminine, or boho-themed projects!
As you all know, I love to design projects around fabric collections, trying to capture the feeling of a collection in a project. The fabrics in this line are so sweet and I wanted to go with something a little bit more modern…a little different than some of my other pattern designs. Wall-hangings and tapestries are very popular right now so I thought it would be fun to design a simple, quick and fun mini quilt that looked tapestry-ish. I can so picture this mini quilt in an adventure-themed nursery or playroom but, of course, it can easily go in any other space.
Just like my other patterns, this pattern uses all traditional piecing (no paper piecing or templates required).
I recently watched a YouTube tutorial for straight-line quilting. I absolutely LOVE the way it looks on quilts and, admittedly, I don’t have any experience machine quilting. After this project, I am officially hooked on straight line quilting! It’s so easy and it can give any quilt a very streamlined and modern look…perfect for Azure Skies!
This mini quilt pattern is available for free here. I hope you all enjoy making this fun project as much as I enjoyed designing it and making it!
Hope everyone has a wonderful, sun-shiny day!
